Conditions We Treat

BJIOS Shoulder

Shoulder Pain

The shoulder is complex arrangement of bones, muscles, and tendons, which allows a wide range of arm motion which we use in our daily lives such as putting on our glasses or reaching for food across the table. Some common shoulder pains includes Rotator Cuff Tears, Frozen Shoulder, Fractures, and Osteoarthritis.

BJIOS Spine

Spine / Back Pain

The spine is segmented into 5 different parts. It’s the pillar of support that keeps us upright while housing the spinal cord a.k.a “the expressway” that connects our brain to all other body parts. Spine pain or Back pain can affect anyone, at any age, but it is significantly more prevalent among adults aged 35 to 55 years old. One of the more common types of back pain is lower back pain which is linked to the lumbar spine and corresponding nerves.

BJIOS Elbow and Limbs

Elbow and Upper Limb Pain

The upper arm, elbow joint, and forearm are known as the upper limb. These 3 parts are linked together by muscles and tendons that run across the length of the upper limb. We use them frequently when we play racket sports and open the fridge. Overuse of the forearm may lead to pain in the elbow joint pain on the outside (lateral) part of the elbow is known as Tennis Elbow while pain on the inside (medial) part is known as Golfer's Elbow.

BJIOS Wrist and Hand

Wrist and Hand Injuries

The wrist is a complex group of bones and ligaments connected to the hand, a similarly complex group of muscles, bones and ligaments. Wrist and Hand injuries can be caused by a variety of reasons such as sports or falls. Sometimes, symptoms could present themselves as pain, numbness, or weakness in the wrist and hand. Other times, they could become stiff like Trigger Finger and Arthritis.

BJIOS Hips and Femur

Hips and Femur Injuries

The hip is a joint where the thigh bone (femur) joins to the pelvis. Hip injuries are more common amongst athletes such as cyclists, runners and golfers. When injured, pain, weakness, and tenderness may present themselves when walking or climbing the stairs. Degeneration of the hip joint due to old age also may cause pain and weakness when walking. Depending on the severity of the condition and doctor's diagnosis, hip replacement surgery may be recommended.

BJIOS Knee and Leg

Knee Pain

The knee joint is the largest joint in the body, and also a primary weight-bearing joint in the body. As such, knee injuries are very common amongst sports enthusiasts and the elderly. Knee injuries typically present themselves with swelling, pain, and at times instability for the more serious cases.

BJIOS Ankle and Foot

Ankle and Foot Pain

The foot and ankle are also another complex set of bones and ligaments that form another primary weight-bearing joint that is integral in providing support and mobility, allowing us to stand, walk and run. Pain in the ankle and foot can occur from overuse, regular “wear and tear”, and injuries such as ligament tears.

BJIOS Pediatrics Conditions

Orthopaedic Conditions in Children

Orthopaedic conditions in children are not uncommon, with some conditions occurring as part of the child's development, namely Osgood-Schlatter’s disease where knee pains develop due to excessive running. Other common condition you can lookout for include Hip Dysplasia which is the problem with the formation of the hip joint, and Clubfoot, a birth abnormality that causes a child's feet to point down and inward.
